CURRICULUM VITAE:
Leticia C. Pires Gonçalves received her PhD degree in Chemical Sciences and Technology from the Federal University of ABC (Brazil, 2012) under the supervision of Prof. E. L. Bastos on the modification of the natural pigments betalains for biotechnological application as dyes, antioxidants and probes. Her thesis was elected the second best thesis in Brazil in 2012 by the CAPES Thesis Award (Minister of Education). After, she worked in multidisciplinary research projects in the interface of chemistry and biology: biocatalysis and photobiocatalysis at TU Wien with Prof. Mihovilovic (Vienna, Austria), chemiexcitation of biomolecules at Yale School of Medicine with Dr. Brash (USA), mechanisms of reactive species at USP with Prof. Bechara (Brazil). She joined the ICN for the development of chemicals tools and in the discovery of new bioactive molecules that circumvent drug resistance mechanisms. Currently, she works as permanent research scientist and project manager in the chemistry department of Roca Therapeutics at the ICN on the discovery and development of new drugs for the treatment of ocular diseases.
